Little Lane is a charming 2 bedroom Victorian terraced cottage in the small seaside village of Alverstoke in Gosport, Hampshire, sleeping 4 (+2), furnished and decorated to a good 4* star standard, within a 5 minute walk of Stokes Bay beach looking over The Solent towards the Isle of Wight.

The prices advertised on our website are for up to 4 guests in 2 good sized double first floor bedrooms, one with a 5 ft king size ‘zip and link’ double bed (which can separate to create 2 singles if requested) plus an en suite bathroom and the other with a 4ft 6″ double bed with an en suite shower room. On the ground floor there is also the snug which can be converted to create a third ground floor bedroom. Additional guests over 4 are charged at a rate of £50 per week/part week per head, or we charge £25 per set of extra linen requested.

A child’s cot and highchair are also available at no extra cost. (If cots are provided guests are asked to please bring their own child’s bedding).

Kitchen/Lounge/Dining Room

To the rear of the ground floor is the open plan kitchen, dining room, living area with a newly fitted modern shaker style kitchen, fully equipped for self catering with all essential mod cons including dishwasher and washing machine, a dining table for up to 6 guests and two sofas, a flat screen TV and Bluetooth Music Speaker.

The Snug

To the front on the ground floor is The Snug, ideal to quietly escape for a good read, or can be converted to create a third ground floor bedroom.

Outdoor spaces

French doors to the rear lead out onto a paved patio and a fully enclosed west facing rear garden which has the possibility of hiring in a Hot Tub, if desired (Conditions apply-please contact us for further details).

Some of our properties have age restrictions, such as where we feel it would not be suitable for younger all adult groups, such as within quiet residential areas where noise may be an issue.

Linen & Towels

All bedding and towelling is provided and a complimentary linen and towel change is carried out for stays of 10 nights and over, with a mid term maid cleaning service available on request. Please select here for a complete list of linens and towels supplied.

For Dogs

We warmly welcome up to 2 small to medium sized well behaved four legged friends at Little Lane at an additional cost of £25 each per dog, per week/part week. (However, to be fair to our neighbours no continuous barkers please).

For Children

A child cot and highchair are available at no extra cost, plus Little Lane also has the option of fitting child gates top and bottom of the stairs. (If cots are provided guests are asked to please bring their own child’s bedding).

There is off road parking for up to 2 vehicles directly opposite the cottage.

For the comfort of others smoking is not permitted within our properties so please refrain from smoking indoors. Smoking is permitted in the outside areas only.

Hot Tub Facility

If desired you can hire in a Hot Tub from our hot tub suppliers Yellow Duck Tub Hire, who are BISHTA registered and certified. (Conditions apply-please contact us for further details).

Bicycles & Bicycle Storage

The rear garden is land-lock and only has access through the house, so bikes could be secured in the garden if appropriate care was taken when passing through the house.

Activities

Prior to your stay we are happy to help arrange any activities you may wish to organise and answer any questions regarding the local area or things to possibly do.

Waterside Location

This property is within a 10 minute walk of Stokes Bay beach or a 5 minute drive to the local marinas.

Barbeques

There is not a BBQ at the property but if you did wish to bring along a disposable one there is a patio area just outside the French doors, plus to the rear of the garden should you wish to BBQ.

Neighbours

All our properties are located within residential areas so we do have neighbours whom we need to consider. If you feel you could comfortably monitor noise levels (in particular out in the gardens and outside areas into the evenings) then we would love to have you stay and have had countless guests who have had a great time with us at our properties. If however you feel that it would not be possible to monitor noise levels, then we would have to recommend you consider something more rural, without neighbours.

The nearest train station is Portsmouth Harbour which is in Portsmouth, so you will need to get the short 4 minute ferry across to Gosport. The ferry sails every 5-15 minutes from Portsmouth Harbour station depending on the time of day.

If arriving in the UK, the closest international airports are Southampton (20 miles/32 km – a 25 min drive), London Heathrow (72 miles/116 km – a 1.2 hour drive) or London Gatwick (84 miles/135 km – a 1.4 hour drive).

Shops

There is a One Stop convenience store within a 2-3 minute walk within the village and the nearest large supermarket is Waitrose, PO12 1SD (a 4 min drive) or Asda, PO12 1SH (a 5 min drive).

 

Eating & Drinking

There are 2 pubs close to Little Lane. The Village Home or The Old Lodge, both a 2-3 minute walk with The Old Lodge also serving good quality food, as does The Little Palace Chinese restaurant, also a 2-3 minute walk. The Village Chippy is a 1-2 minute walk and is one of the best in the area.

 

Walking, Running & Cycling

There are a number of local walks and cycling tracks, plus Gosport and Portsmouth are also close by to the South Downs and the New Forest National Parks. Please view our Walking, Running and Cycling section.

Grocery Delivery

Many major supermarkets now offer click & collect, or home delivery if booked in advance through their online shops. We are also in an Amazon Prime Now delivery area.

There are a number of local taxi firms; such as Andicars, Aqua Cars, Bridge Cars, Busters Cars, Hardway Cabs, Streamline, Skyline as well as Uber.

Takeaways

At this property there are plenty of options on either Deliveroo, Just Eat or UberEats.

FAQs

Check in times are between 4 - 6pm (unless agreed otherwise) with checkout by 10am on day of departure. If an early check in or late departure time is required then we will do what we can to help, however if this is vital for your plans we recommend guests book the extra night.
Bedding, linen and bathroom towels are provided for the number of guests booked to stay with a complimentary linen and towel change carried out for stays of 10 nights and over. Additional bedding is available if required at the cost of £25 per set to include 2 medium sized bath towels. If additional towels over those provided are requested these can also be supplied at a cost of £1 per hand towel and £2 per medium sized bath towel. The above is part of our environmental and sustainability program, which is designed to reduce waste, with all our properties provided with washing machines for your use if required, plus you are welcome to bring additional bedding/towels if you wish. An additional mid term maid cleaning service is also available for a cleaner to attend for 4 hours at a cost of £60 and please contact us if required.
We are understandably sensitive about what surfaces items such as balloons and banners are fixed or stuck to so would be happy to put these up for you to limit any possible damage, but would not wish to take on the responsibility of choosing and purchasing these items for you in case we did not get it quite right. However, if you wished to mail the items you would like us to put up for you, to our office address 45a Stoke Road, Gosport, Hants, PO12 1LS, at least 7 days prior to your arrival, we will endeavour to have these put up where possible, in time for your arrival.

We had a wonderful stay at Little Lane

The house was immaculately clean and modern with all the facilities you need for a self catering holiday. The unexpected extras (washing up liquid, dishwasher tables, washing tablets, toilet roll, tea coffee & milk) provided that extra touch. We hired the hot tub from Yellow Duck Hot Tub Hire as an extra treat for our holiday and it was lovely. I would like to thank Ken for him showing us around the property when we arrived and showing us how to operate the hot tub. Very professional! I would highly recommend Little Lane.

Little Lane is a Gem

Incredibly clean and well-equipped – and superfast wifi. Wanted for nothing. The small garden at the rear is a delight and wonderful to watch all different types of birds over a morning coffee. The village is quiet and charming and the people lovely – including the hosts who were super helpful and organised. A very short walk to the beach. And loads on your doorstep (One Stop, hairdresser's, barber's, beautician's, post office, fish and chip shop, pub, hotel with a beer garden, Chinese takeaway – that made this vegetarian very happy – and Joy's tea room which does great takeaway cappuccinos and has an amazing selection of quiches, pies, pastries, cake, scones etc – including vegan options). Didn't want to leave!

Little Lane is a Cosy Cottage

Straightforward, simple to arrange, pay and alter bookings with quick response, online and in person. Very flexible and accommodating management. 6 Little Lane is a cosy cottage in a village setting with nice neighbours. It's just a short walk to the fabulous Stoke Bay beach looking over The Solent, and close by to Gosport Maritime historic attractions. Nearby convenience store, Post Office and quality chippy is a real bonus. It was clean and fully equipped, nothing required, and back up service very responsive. A pleasant, easy, extended stay between moving main residences, it was an ideal solution for me as a fully serviced rental property through lockdown. I would highly recommend for short or long term stays.

Fantastic stay at Little Lane

Chose this cosy cottage for visiting family near Portsmouth. Easily accommodated 6 adults (3 teens) and all the amenities we needed. Exceptionally clean. Beautiful little village, close to Gosport ferry. Highly recommend this cottage. Thank you for a great stay

We had a lovely time at Little Lane

The rooms were adequate size for our family of 5. The house is located in a quiet street and the neighbours were friendly. We hired the hot tub for the week from Yellow Duck Hot Tub Hire and enjoyed it. There is so many attractions and places to go and there is a brilliant fish and chip shop just down the street. Ken from Complete Holiday Homes was extremely helpful with our induction showing us around the house and how to operate the hot tub. We enjoyed our stay, and I would recommend this property to family.

Lovely Cottage in a little Village

Lovely cottage in a little village close to the beach. Very clean and well equipped and the host were very helpful. We hired the hot tub for our stay which was ready on our arrival with clear instructions on how to use. We tried food at the local fish and chips and the Chinese take away, both a short walk away and both were very nice. We would stay again.

Little Lane is a quaint, cosy house in an ideal location

It has all the facilities you need and its clean and fresh. The location was great, in a quiet little village with an amazing fish and chip shop but get there early!!! The walk to Stokes Bay was well worth it and also a drive to West Wittering Beach for a pure sandy beach but make sure you book parking on line before. Trip across to Portsmouth on the foot ferry, great idea and no worry about parking. Southsea was also a great visit with plenty to do and see. Complete Holiday Homes were excellent, great communication very impressed.

I have been very impressed with the ease of booking directly through your website and how easy it has been to contact your office and speak to actual helpful and friendly people! (unlike some 3rd party booking companies). Being met at the Little Lane by Ken and shown the technical stuff in the cottage was also very helpful. Little Lane itself is lovely and I would definitely return and recommend it to anyone. I would say well done, keep up the good work and maybe try and get some more cottages on your books going towards the New Forest and Christchurch, where I visit quite often.

Lovely Little Cottage

Little Lane was near perfect and more spacious then expected. Decorated in a modern style but appropriately, location unimprovable. Village, sea and city - perfect in our view. Cleanliness also outstanding. We enjoyed the village, the access to the Solent for walking, the convenience of the ferry for Portsmouth and the local shops. The whole process for booking, contact etc was like the property outstanding. In particular I want to mention Steve who met us so effectively and then went above and beyond when I managed to lock myself out, he was very patient and I'm very thankful. We had a super time at Little Lane and to our surprise found ourselves talking about another stay on the way home. Complete Holiday Homes has been great to deal with and the facilities etc all made for a relaxing time on holiday.

Little Lane was a lovely conveniently situated property in the middle of the village

Little Lane is beautiful!

We had a wonderful time thanks. Perfect accommodation as ever from you guys. What a gorgeous location. The one stop around the corner was handy and we enjoyed a few pints in the local pub. We had fish and chips from the wine bar at the sea front - which were world class!! Totally recommend it. You guys are faultless so thanks so much and hope to see you next year when we are back for the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Lovely stay at Little Lane

We had a lovely stay at Little Lane in Alverstoke. The house was spotless, very nice with everything you needed and the garden is a plus, although we weren't able to enjoy it due to British weather! The neighbourhood is very nice. We will be happy to come back!
